After covering the Gingerbread Man in English I asked the class to come up with new Gingerbread People.

Roald Dahl
The 13th September is Roald Dahl's birthday. I always make a big deal of this with my classes, as I loved Roald Dahl when I was in primary school. This year I am going to read as many books as I can to my class. So far I have read the Magic Finger and we are in the middle of Fantastic Mr Fox at the moment.
In Enģlish my class created Wanted Posters for Mr Fox
In Art we created symmetry Mr Foxes. I printed photos of Fantastic Mr Fox and cut them in half and had my class draw the other side of the fox. See below.

Valentine's Theme
I was looking for something new to do this year with my class for Valentine's Day and came across this idea on pinterest which then lead me to the firstgradeparadeblog where I got the worksheet for this activity.
We have been working hard on story elements in 1st class. The last two weeks have been spent on BME (beginning, middle, end). I read this story to my class and then on the worksheet I got from firstgradeparadeblog had my kids pick out the BME of the story. Afterwards we created Polly the Piglet Jigsaw pigs.
